‘The 100’ is an American post-apocalyptic sci-fi series set after a nuclear conflict which has decimated civilisation. A century later, a spaceship accommodating humanity’s lone survivors dispatch 100 juvenile delinquents back to the Earth to determine its habitability.
ReDefine has contributed to the VFX work for season 7, the final season of the show which will bring it to a total of 100 episodes across all seven seasons.
ReDefine’s contribution to the final season involved a range of visual effects work, including complex FX work and a range of CG environment extensions.
” We were excited to deliver VFX work for a number of episodes in the final season of ‘The 100’, including the series finale which brought this wildly popular science fiction series to a close,” said Serkan Zelzele, VFX Supervisor, ReDefine Montreal. “The challenges were unique to each episode – from complicated FX work to futuristic matte paintings, from celestial comps to full-CG environments. One of the most notable challenges was creating the ascended light people, which involved some intense Houdini FX work combined with some cool comp enhancement.”
“ReDefine really delivered for me and HBO on this project; starting fully remote before the pandemic started, then continuing to make deadlines we needed up through delivery. I appreciated Serkan’s patience with changes that came up, and would definitely work with ReDefine again on a similar project!”
“The visual effects for Brahmastra will pioneer new techniques and processes that have not previously been seen in movies for the mainstream Indian film market. Having worked with DNEG, and now ReDefine, I know that together we are creating amazing visuals that reflect a quality and calibre that audiences have come to expect from big budget Hollywood films.”
“COLLABORATIVE” is the phrase that comes to mind when I think about ReDefine. I’ve had the pleasure of working with ReDefine for a little over a year now, and throughout the production process, the work has been excellent and we have always been able to collaborate – finding creative solutions for all our production challenges. I am very excited to continue our working relationship and look forward to completing Rock Dog 2 with the ReDefine team in 2020.”
