The global health crisis created by the COVID-19 pandemic has been a reminder that we are at our best when we work together to overcome challenges. Huge burdens are being placed on our medical and healthcare systems, and many less fortunate members of our societies are finding themselves in desperately difficult situations. During these trying times, we are proud that members of our teams are doing their part to help the local communities by bringing support and assistance to those that need it the most.
One such story can be found in our Mumbai studio, where a group of ReDefiners have come together to bring essential food and supplies to the poor.
Led by ReDefiners Jasjit Singh, Gurvinder Singh and Rupesh Gosavi, the group, made up of local community members and ReDefiners, have been delivering essential supplies to families in areas that have been cut off by the lockdown. This food drive is part of an annual fundraiser/food drive initiative put together by the group to support different causes, and through community fundraising, the group collected enough funds to feed over 200 families in the area.
Jasjit and his colleagues have been managing the operation independently, securing the supplies and distributing them to the needy, with the support of local officials. Bags of rice, wheat and other essentials were distributed to the families in Chinchoti Village near Vasai, and a Chawl in Kandivali East, Thakur Village.
‘We initially had a target to collect a certain amount so that we could feed at least 100 families. Our friends passed on the information to their friends who started donating. We add every donor to the group to keep them updated, and we have plans to do more contributions like these to support more families in need’ – Jasjit Singh, ReDefine.
